Background

​

Ashleigh-Marie is a Canadian–South African singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music blends poetic lyricism, acoustic intimacy, and vocal power against an indie pop backdrop. Starting her career as Ashcoustics in Cape Town, she spent three years immersed in South Africa’s grassroots music scene before self-funding her debut EP No More, which earned international press, a Best Music Video nomination at the South African Independent Film Festival, and a live national televised showcase on the South African Expresso Show.

 

Now based in Canada, Ashleigh-Marie performs across Ontario, has appeared at venues and festivals including Horseshoe Tavern, Embody Fest, ONXS Music Festival, and Bradford Carrot Fest. Additionally she held a weekly residency at Boston Pizza and Bond | ST Event Centre, and was selected as an emerging artist with the Canadian Musicians Co-Operative in 2024.

 

Currently, she is writing a new stripped-back record focused on emotional depth and songwriting in its purest form while working in live music promotion at Modo-Live in Toronto.
